Chief HICHILEMA says he is aware that some traditional chiefs owe money through unpaid bonuses.

The head of state says that the government wants to improve the welfare of the traditional chiefs because they are part of the development agenda.

Speaking when he invited the chief official SIKUFELE at his palace in Manyinga, the head of state said he would not separate any traditional leader regardless of the political party he supports ahead of the August 2021 elections.

President HICHILEMA disclosed that the funds not used under the Constituency Development Fund – CDF will not be returned to the central government at the end of the fiscal year due to the delay in distributing the funds.

The head of state said that he wants to promote development through the Community Development Fund, and asking local authorities to retire from the funds will not help achieve the government’s development agenda.

The Head of State thanked Supreme Leader Sekovel for the continuous support he has given to the government since the formation of the UPND government in 2021.

Senior Chief Sekovel expressed his happiness with the job creation done by the UPND government in the health and education sectors.

The traditional leader said that the government has achieved reason in the markets and public institutions and should be given a chance to improve the country.
