Police Confirms Death Of Davido’s Son, Grills Domestic Staff

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday morning confirmed the death of Ifeanyi Adeleke, son of popular music artiste, Davido, and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland.

It was gathered that the first son of the artiste died on Monday at his father’s residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

Police Public Relations Officer in the state Benjamin Hundeyin told Channels Television that Ifeanyi drowned on Monday.

When asked whether Ifeanyi is dead, the police spokesman said, “Yes, he is; he drowned.”

“No arrest yet but domestic staff have been brought in for questioning,” Hundeyin added.

Meanwhile, tributes have been pouring in from celebrities and fans of the singer.

The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday said eight domestic workers were brought in for questioning in connection with the death of Davido’s son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said the domestic workers’ narrations would assist the command in ascertaining the circumstances surrounding the death of the three-year-old boy.

Hundeyin, however, said anyone not found culpable would be released immediately, adding the ones found culpable of negligence would be held back to assist the command in the ongoing investigation.

Hundeyin said, “His (Ifeanyi’s) death is confirmed. His (Davido’s) domestic workers have been brought in for questioning and anybody found not culpable will be allowed to go immediately.

“About eight of them were brought in to narrate their version of what happened to assist us in getting what really happened.

“At the end of their narrations, whoever that is found not guilty of negligence or not culpable in anyway will be allowed to go.

“Anybody found culpable will stay back to assist us in further investigation. The domestic workers are about eight that were brought in.”

Ibori, Edevbie, Others Make PDP Campaign Council List

Former governors James Ibori and Emmanuel Uduaghan, and their deputies, Benjamin Elue and Amos Utuama, are among prominent names on the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council list published, yesterday.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and PDP vice presidential candidate chairs the council with the governorship candidate and current Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori as deputy chairman.

Also on the list is former Commissioner of Finance and governorship aspirant, David Edevbie who recently lost his bid to be the party’s governorship candidate at the Supreme Court.

In the build up to the May 25 primary, all efforts to have a consensus candidate failed as Okowa and Ibori differed on who should fly the party’s flag.

While Okowa opted for Oborevwori, Ibori stood with Edevbie who was Commissioner of Finance between 1999 and 2007 when Ibori held sway as governor.

With Oborevwori winning the primary in landslide, Edevbie institute a suit at the Federal High, Abuja, challenging the eligibility of Oborevwori whom he accused of presenting false academic credentials.

Although he won at the High Court, the appellate courts upturned the ruling on the ground that the suit was premature, and reinstated Oborevwori.

Speculations were rife after the Supreme Court judgement that Edevbie and his followers were on their way out of the party.

Multiple sources hinted that the Ibori and Edevbie groups were in advanced talks with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and it’s governorship candidate, Ovie Omo-Agege on how to form formidable alliance to wrest power from Okowa at the polls.

An APC source had informed that Ibori had already given the APC his conditions if they want him to work for Omo-Agege.

But the publication of their names as members of the PDP campaign council might just put paid to their proposed rumoured defection or alliance with the opposition party in the state.

It was learnt that they were consulted before the campaign council was coupled together but their attendance at the inauguration billed for Thursday might give credence to the fact the Delta PDP family remain intact.

NDLEA Declares Drug Baron Wanted, Arrests One, Seals Mansions (Pics)

NDLEA declares Lagos drug baron wanted, arrests kingpin behind cocaine shipments

…Seals barons 7 mansions in Lagos, Ibadan; blocks N217million in bank account

NDLEA declares Lagos drug baron wanted, arrests kingpin behind cocaine shipments . Seals baron’s 7 mansions in Lagos, lbadan; blocks N217million in bank account

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has declared wanted Lagos socialite and owner of Adekaz Hotels, Alhaji Ademola Afolabi Kazeem (a.k.a Alhaji Abdallah Kazeem Muhammed) over offences bordering on exportation and trafficking of illicit drugs as well as rnoney laundering.

The decision to declare the suspect wanted followed his failure to honour NDLEA invitations and an order granted the Agency by a Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday 17th October 2022. The wanted drug kingpin was uncovered as the sponsor of sorne traffickers arrested by the anti-narcotics agency in their recent attempt to export cocaine to Dubai, UAE and other destinations outside Nigeria.
Soon after the arrest of one of his mules, Bolujoko Muyiwa BabaIola, a Lagos BRT driver on 27th June at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, MMIA, lkeja, Alhaji Ademola Kazeem who is also the Chairman of Adekaz Global Integrated Services, went underground. Following his failure to honour invitations sent to him, the Agency approached a Federal High Court in Lagos with three prayers: to attach and seal his identified properties in Lagos and lbadan; declare him wanted and block his bank account with a cash balance of Two Hundred and Seventeen Million Naira (N217,000,000.00), all of which were granted.

As a result, NDLEA operatives on Wednesday 26. October 2022 sealed six of the identified properties located on Lagos Island. They include: 105 Tokunbo street off Broad street, Lagos Island; 1 Abibu Oki street off Marina, Lagos Island; 3 Abibu Oki street off Marina, Lagos Island; 54 Pa. Church street, Lagos Island; 26 Agarawu street, Lagos Island; and 41 Foresythe street, Lagos Island. The other one is located at 1 lrepodun zone, Adepoju bus stop, Ajoda Ayedun, lbadan, Oyo state.

In a related development, the Agency on Friday 28. October arrested another drug baron, Udemezue Obunike William at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on his return from Brazil. His arrest with the support of the Nigeria Immigration Service followed the earlier arrest of some drug couriers linked to Udemezue as their sponsor. They include two mules: Messrs Adolphus Anayochukwu Okeke and Anayo Michael Nnanna. The 52-year-old father of four children who claimed to be a businessman, Okeke Adolphus Anayochukwu was arrested at the Abuja airport by NDLEA operatives with 20.75 kilograms of black liquid cocaine on Tuesday 15th March upon his arrival onboard Qatar Airways flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Doha, Qatar to Abuja.

The liquid was discovered upon search of his luggage stuffed with six smaller bags containing 32-makeup mascara, which tested positive to cocaine.

On the other hand, a Brazilian returnee Nnanna Anayo Michael, 39, was arrested at the Port Harcourt International Airport, PHIA, during the inward screening of passengers on board Qatar Airline flight QR1433 from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Doha to Port Harcourt on Tuesday, 29th March. Nnanna was arrested with 73 sachets weighing 8.15 kilograms of cocaine, which is the largest seizure of such at the airport, since it began

international flight operations years ago.
Further investigations of the two traffickers revealed Udemezue Obunike William as the drug baron behind the cocaine cartel. As a result, he was watch-listed and arrested upon his return from Brazil on Friday 28th October.
In his reaction, Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), CON, OFR, commended the officers and men of the Agency involved in the clinical investigation that led to the unmasking of the two barons. He said gone are the days when drug kingpins can hide behind traffickers and remain faceless, warning that the new NDLEA will continue to unravel them one after the other if they fail to back out of the criminal trade.

Naira Redesign: You Must Put Arabic Sign On Every Note – MURIC To CBN

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has supported the move by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to redesign the naira.

However, the Islamic human rights organization gave the condition that Arabic Ajami must be inscribed on all naira denominations.

MURIC stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the group’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

The statement reads in part: “The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, announced on October 26 2022, the plan by the CBN to redesign the naira.

“MURIC hereby expresses its support for the project with the proviso that all the denominations must contain Arabic inscriptions just as they had been before Arabic Ajami was conspiratorially and unjustly removed from some denominations.”

MURIC insisted that the removal of Arabic Ajami from naira notes in the past provoked Muslims and caused division within the country, adding that only its return to all denominations can heal the wound.

According to the Islamic group, in 2005, ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo fired the first salvo against the naira note during his eight-year rule as a civilian president (1999–2007). Obasanjo removed the Arabic Ajami from 5, 10, 20 and 50 naira denominations.

It added that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan also took the cue from Obasanjo by removing Arabic Ajami from the 100 naira note when he discharged the commemorative centenary banknote on December 19, 2014.

Is Makinde Withdrawal Of Support From PDP A Win For Tinubu?

Battle 4 2023: Disaster Lies Ahead For Atiku As Seyi Makinde Dumps PDP Candidate For Tinubu
Atiku In Quandary As Makinde Withdraws Support A Win For Tinubu?

There is a twist in the political camp of Atiku Abubakar as Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has just backed out of Atiku’s 2023 presidency and thrown his weight behind Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for the 2023 presidency.

On Sunday in a bold and certified move, following the directive of Seyi Makinde, Adebayo Lawal, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, stated that his principal supports Afenifere leaders’ choice of Tinubu as their chosen presidential candidate for the 2023 elections.

Lawal stated this during a meeting in Akure, the capital of Ondo state, between Afenifere leaders and Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate.

The scenario that is unfolding may signal disaster for Atiku for a variety of reasons. Makinde remains the only PDP Governor from the South West, despite the fact that Osun State will soon have a PDP Governor in the person of Adeleke.

With Makinde’s backing for Tinubu, the Jagaban has effectively cemented the South West as a no-go zone for Atiku. The issue Atiku has with the Group of Five PDP Governors is one of integrity and trust.

According to the disgruntled PDP Governors, the South has a stronger stake in the PDP due to its current support, which outnumbers that of the North.

What are the ramifications of the North producing the Party Candidate, the Party Chairman, and the DG? If not a major affront to the PDP Southern governors who have been supporting the Party for years.

The PDP currently administers 13 states across the nation, with the north contributing five, namely Taraba, Benue, Sokoto, Bauchi, and Adamawa State, and the South generating eight, as follows… Akwa Ibom, Abia, Delta, Rivers, Enugu, Oyo, Bayelsa, and Edo.

Therefore, based on the foregoing, the South-South should be calling the shots in the PDP, but due to betrayal, ego, and envy, this lofty position has escaped the South-South.

Whoever advises Atiku that he can win if the G 5 governors withdraws should be his marabout, i.e. a Native Doctor/Jazz Man in local lingo if you must understand me better, or a madman, as the LP candidate, Peter Obi claims he once sought advice from.

This was the outcome of the most recent presidential elections between the APC and the PDP: APC – 15,191,847 PDP – 11,262,978.

Take note that the PDP had more governors at the time, Kwankwaso, a crowd puller in the North, was in the PDP, Peter Obi, with his bloated popularity, was in the PDP and ran as running mate to the same Atiku, Wike the TERROR was also in good terms with the party, and Buhari’s popularity was still the same, if not worse.

Tinubu is the sole contender from the South-West among the four major candidates, (the other three are PDP Promax candidates) While Tinubu has the support of the Afenifere’s, Olusegun Mimiko’s, the Fayose’s, Makinde’s, Gbenga Daniels, South-West traditional rulers and others, the PDP, LP, and NNPP are struggling due to divided votes.

Lol, it was interesting when we learned in the news last week that Anambra State, Peter Obi’s state, the traditional rulers endorsed Atiku ahead of their son, no wonder Wike then informed the Anambra delegates face to face during the electioneering time for PDP primaries that their son couldn’t win.

With 22 Governors out of 36, 68 Senators out of 109, and more than 209 House Representative members out of over 300, the strength and the number of votes are on the side of the APC.

Anyone who believes otherwise is insane and cannot possibly be thinking rationally, especially when three candidates are splitting the opposing vote.

There are some really exciting times ahead. Would Atiku open his two KOROKORO eyes and plunge into the abyss of DISASTER?

Family Stopped Me From December Bout With Fury – Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua will not box in December as he battles to rebuild his mental health after back-to-back Oleksandr Usyk losses.

The 33-year-old London 2012 Olympic golden boy was dethroned of his WBA, IBF and WBO world titles by the Ukraine mastermind in September 2021.

And he failed with his August rematch – despite a vastly improved performance – and broke down in the aftermath, throwing a couple of his old belts to the floor and crying in the post-fight press conference.

A decade of carrying such huge expectations on his giant shoulders came pouring out of the father-of-one, after he lost his crowns and any chance of his career-long goal of an undisputed decider,

And despite the Watford icon and promoter Eddie Hearn vowing he would fight in December, the powerhouse pin-up has now confirmed – although he is fighting fit – his head is still not fully recovered.

AJ entered talks with undefeated WBC Gypsy King Tyson Fury about a potential December 3 showdown.

But he pulled out of talks when his commercial and sponsorship partnerships clashed with playing second fiddle on the Fury show, planned for the Cardiff stadium.

And he has now confirmed to broadcasters DAZN, that his family has urged him to take an extended break to let his huge heart and mind recover from the punishing losses.

“You saw after my last fight, I swear it tore me apart,” Joshua bravely admitted. “I had so much riding on it, for me, the British fans, the undisputed fight.

“It just really tore me apart so, from a mental capacity, my close ones are telling me to rest, mentally.

“Physically I am down to ride, I am a warrior, I like this game and I like competing.

“But, from a mental aspect, I think people have really seen it means a lot.”

Bitter nemesis Fury has made a second career out of being a mental health campaigner, after his own breakdown coincided with a 2017 back-dated doping ban.

But Joshua bottled up all of his struggles until his rock-hard facade melted away in the scorching Saudi Arabia desert.

He now faces another rebuilding process and will most likely return to the ring in the Spring of 2023, against a mid-level opponent, to help get him back to winning ways.

NPC Launches E-Recruitment Portal For 2023 Census

The National Population Commission has officially launched its e-recruitment portal to recruit ad hoc staff for the 2023 national population and housing census.

Speaking at the launching of the portal in Abuja, the Chairman, National Population Commission, Nasir Isa-Kwarra, stressed that it is crucial to have best hands for the census.

The Census Manager, Inuwa Jalingo, said the Commission was expected to receive over 25 million applications for the available jobs, adding that there was a need for the process to be competitive, reliable and transparent.

He said, “The adoption of e-Recruitment approach is to ensure widespread applications from all over the localities in the country, minimise bias and ascertain that all qualified Nigerians are given equal opportunity to apply and be recruited and ensuring that no one is left behind.

“The Commission adopts e-Recruitment portal to recruit ad hoc staff for the 2023 Population and Housing Census. This portal has been tested during Pre-test and Trial Census and has been greatly improved to serve different category of ad-hoc staff.”

Earlier, the Director, Employment and Wages at the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Gloria Ndifon, commended the Commission, and said that e-recruitment was the new development as the world had become more digital.

Also, the representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mrs. Ann Aderibigbe, lauded the e-recruitment portal saying this serves as a challenge to other agencies to embrace digitisation to enable accuracy, adding that the NPC is on the right track.

Meanwhile, the Director Public Affairs Department at the NPC, Dr. Isiaka Yahaya, explained that the exercise is not just recruitment but a key preparatory activity to the 2023 census, adding that it is a stakeholders’ engagements activity which will enable a national census with accurate data for national planning.

Check below for the certain requirements that prospective employees must fulfil before going to the NPC portal as Jalingo said the process has to be competitive, reliable and transparent.
